Italy Study Visa Checklist (Without Panic)
For students applying through VFS to Italian consulates in India.
The Italy Type-D study visa looks simple on paper, but most students feel stressed because every consulate has slightly different expectations. Below is a practical checklist you can follow.
Core document checklist
- Valid passport with enough blank pages
- University pre-enrolment / final admission letter
- DSU or scholarship letter (if applicable)
- Financial proof: savings, sponsorship, or DSU coverage
- Accommodation proof (university housing or private)
- Travel and medical insurance covering the Schengen period
Common mistakes that trigger queries
- Bank balance shown in the wrong person's name.
- Accommodation not recognised by the consulate.
- Sponsor letter without clear relationship and obligation.
- Old or incomplete bank statements.
The goal is to make the visa officer's job easy: all proofs clearly labeled, consistent and believable.
